As artificial intelligence has taken the world by storm, new image and text generating tools have become a become a lightening rod of debate and controversy in higher education. Are these tools just the latest version of the calculator, which was also met with resistance when it was introduced in the classroom 50 years ago, or are they more nefarious, striking at the heart of creativity itself? This discussion will focus on the challenges and opportunities these technologies bring students and faculty as well as the issues they raise for institutions of higher education.
